Between the practical stunts, the engrossing performances and the beautiful locations featured on Game of Thrones, the special effects that tie the show together often go unnoticed. Mackevision, one of the visual effects studios working on the HBO smash hit, has shared a highlight reel of its work on season 4. The studio does everything from sprucing up the backdrops to crafting large cities to giving real-life sets a digital makeover with just enough medieval panache to pass as part of Westeros.

Some of the green screen shots are more blatant than others, but when Mackevision sticks the landing, it’s nearly impossible to tell what’s been digitally enhanced and what exists in the real world. If you’re a fan of the show, take five minutes out of your day and watch the team of visual effects artists put together one of the biggest cultural phenomenons in the history of television.
