Video: Samsung posts extensive hands-on with Galaxy S5, Gear wearables

Galaxy S5 Hands-on Video

After posting a couple of introduction videos for the Galaxy S5 and the new Gear wearables a few days ago, Samsung has released on YouTube two new videos in which it offers its own hands-on preview of the new smartphone, smartwatches and fitness band. The new gadgets will be available in stores staring with April 11, although official prices are still not available.

The two videos are significantly longer, revealing the specs of Samsung’s new devices as well as some of their features that were not thoroughly demoed on stage during the announcement event. Unlike with the Galaxy S4 launch, Samsung chose not to offer extensive demos of the new Galaxy S5’s software features during the MWC 2014 announcement event, focusing only on some of the new TouchWiz additions including the new fitness features, camera improvements, data speed transfers, fingerprint sensor security-related features and new battery saving mode. The new video further explores what the Galaxy S5 has to offer.

While it introduced the new Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches a day before the show, Samsung made sure the audience got the message: wearables and health/fitness have become a new focus for the company. Samsung introduced the Gear Fit alongside the new Galaxy S5, a wearable fitness device that sports a curved touchscreen display. In its hands-on video with these devices, the company highlights their hardware features as well as their software features that include support for calls and notifications, as well as health and fitness-tracking apps.

The Galaxy S5 and Gear hands-on videos follow below.
