Samsung has long been rumored to work on a new flagship smartphone made of metal, for a change, that will take on the upcoming iPhone 6, and two different online publications have posted images of the device, including Tinhte and SamMobile. Unfortunately, for Galaxy fans waiting for an all-metal high-end Galaxy Alpha to come out this fall, it looks like the handset won’t have that much metal and that it won’t necessarily be that high-end either.
The device appears to be a “watered-down” version of the Galaxy S5, as SamMobile notes, and it’ll still pack the same faux leather plastic back you’ve grown to love or hate – depending on your stance about Samsung’s plastic use. Metal is indeed in use in this smaller, 4.7-inch handset, but only on the sides.
When it comes to hardware, the device will supposedly have a 4.7-inch display that’s about the same as the 2012 Galaxy S3, although it’s not clear whether that means it’ll have the same quality or resolution. Other specs include 32GB of internal memory, no microSD support, LTE-A support, nano SIM slot and fingerprint scanner.
Other specs aren’t available at this time for the handset that’s supposed to launch this August to take on the iPhone 6.
