Google and CNN have announced an exclusive partnership, by which Google will be the exclusive publisher of text link ads on This is a huge deal for Google, as they have essentially just locked down exclusive ad rights to one of the top 100 most trafficked sites on the internet. Nice one, Google. Doesn’t sound terribly exciting, but in the crazy and competitive world of online advertising, this is a major coup over competitors such as Microsoft and Yahoo. Google actually just kicked Yahoo out! No word on how long the exclusivity clause is expected to last, nor how much Google is forking over in the process, but you best believe this type of situation doesn’t come about cheaply.
