As struggling smartphone maker BlackBerry continues to look for outs, the company must explore every possibly avenue that might be helpful in raising cash. One such avenue, The Globe and Mail and AllThingsD each independently report, may be the sale of some of its property in Ontario, Canada. BlackBerry has reportedly approached several commercial real estate firms in recent weeks about valuing and possibly selling off at least some of the property it owns in Waterloo. The firm has sold a few sites in recent years but still owns 20 buildings in the area. “As we work to our target of reducing expenditures by approximately 50 percent over the next three quarters, that includes optimizing our space,” a BlackBerry spokesperson told AllThingsD. “Should space become unnecessary for BlackBerry’s continued use, we will work with key partners in the community who may need some of our surplus space.”
