AT&T on Wednesday officially confirmed that the highly anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy S4 is finally rolling out – Sprint was the first U.S. carrier to release its respective KitKat firmware for the Galaxy S4 two weeks ago. The update for the AT&T Galaxy S4 (I337 model) is available only over-the-air (OTA) and measures between 414MB and 842MB depending on the Android OS version currently found on the phone.
In addition to specific KitKat features, the AT&T Galaxy S4 is also getting Galaxy Gear compatibility, a better call experience and a drag-and-drop feature that will allow users to uninstall or disable applications. Once installed, the firmware version of the handset in the About device section should read KOTH49H.1337UCUFNB1, with the baseband version set at I337UCUFNB1.
In addition to carrier-specific Galaxy S4 versions, Samsung is also updating to KitKat the international version of the handset (GT-I9500 model), and plans to bring the update to several other Android smartphones and tablets in the future, according to a recent announcement.
