One of the less-heralded new products that Apple (AAPL) showed off last month was the Fusion Drive, a super-speedy new hard drive that that combined the best features of SSD storage and HDD. Techfast Lunch&Dinner this week set up a speed test to measure just how fast the new Apple Fusion Drive really was, and the results were extremely impressive: Not only did the Fusion Drive slice the start up time for the new Mac mini in half, but it also delivered write speeds of over 300Mbps and read speeds that topped 400Mbps. In contrast, a standard Mac mini 5400 RPM hard drive had trouble reaching read and write speeds of 100Mbps in TL&D tests, meaning the Fusion Drive more than tripled read and write hard drive performance.
