With Apple Watch availability, functionality, and style options all poised to explode at the same time, there’s a good chance that Apple’s new wearable will soon experience a dramatic uptick in sales. And with the busy holiday shopping season fast approaching, the timing couldn’t be better.

But before we get into that, a quick rundown of Apple Watch sales is in order. So first off, a basic question: Is the Apple Watch thus far a rousing success or an embarrassing flop that will inevitably be brought up in the same breath as the iPod Hi-Fi? Depending on who you ask, you’re bound to get a smattering of different answers, in large part because Apple hasn’t yet disclosed specific sales figures for the device.

Still, it’s not as if Apple has completely failed to address the popularity of its new wearable. During Apple’s earnings report this past July, Tim Cook said that Apple Watch sales have “exceeded expectations.” What’s more, early Apple Watch sales, though perhaps not jaw-droppingly high, were quick to outpace initial sales of both the iPhone and the iPad.

“Through the end of the quarter,” Tim Cook explained two months ago, “the Apple Watch sell-through was higher than the comparable launch periods of the original iPhone or the original iPad. And we were able to do that with having only 680 points of sale.”

Looking ahead, it appears that Apple Watch availability is on the cusp of skyrocketing.

Starting next week, the Apple Watch will reportedly be available for purchase from both Sprint and T-Mobile stores. Additionally, Best Buy announced this past summer that the Apple Watch will be available across 200 brick and mortar stores before the 2015 holiday shopping season. Notably, the device will also be available for purchase via Best Buy’s website.

Further, Apple is also expanding Apple Watch availability worldwide, with the company adding a number of new authorized re-sellers to the mix in Australia and a number of European countries.

So while the Apple Watch was effectively available at Apple retail stores exclusively at launch, the current list of authorized re-sellers has grown quite lengthy since then. Coupled with the impending release of watchOS 2, new watchbands, and intriguing new partnerships with luxury brands like Hermes, the Apple Watch is poised for an explosion in sales. It’s really a perfect storm: increased availability, functionality (i.e native apps), and style are all on the up and up and are poised to feed off of one another.
