The news organization did not offer any additional information in its brief report, which was posted on its Twitter account on Tuesday morning. Earlier reports suggested Apple would announce the new tablet at a press conference in San Francisco, in line with the company’s prior two iPad unveilings. The iPad 3 is expected to feature a quad-core Apple A6 processor, embedded 4G LTE connectivity and a high-resolution 2,048 x 1,536-pixel display.
UPDATE: Well-connected Apple watcher Jim Dalrymple of Loop Insight claims that CNBC is incorrect about the location of Apple’s press conference, which will not be held in New York.
