At this point it might be safe to assume that any device released by either Apple (AAPL) or Samsung (005930) will wind up being a target in a patent infringement lawsuit. Per Reuters, U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal ruled on Thursday that Samsung can add the iPhone 5 to its ongoing patent infringement suit against Apple and that Apple can add the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Note and Samsung’s version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to its suit. As AppleInsider notes, this particular lawsuit is scheduled to go on trial in 2014 and is separate from the suit that resulted in Samsung losing a $1 billion verdict this past summer.
