Apple announces first Haswell-based MacBook Pros

Apple on Tuesday announced a major refresh to its MacBook Pro lineup, including a thinner and lighter 13-inch models that weighs in at just 3.46 pounds and is just 0.71 inches thin. The new laptops will be the first to incorporate Intel’s Haswell processors, which will deliver a major battery life boost of up to 9 hours. Other specs for the 13-inch Pro include a 2.4GHz Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The new 13-inch MacBook Pro is priced starting at just $1,299, a $200 price cut from the last version of the 13-inch Pro, and starts shipping today. 

The 15-inch version of the MacBook Pro, meanwhile, also includes Haswell processors that help deliver battery life of up to 8 hours. Just as with the 13-inch Pro, Apple has cut $200 off the 15-inch Pro’s price tag and is selling it starting at $1,999. Other specs for the new 15-inch MacBook Pro include a 2.0GHz i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity. Apple says that the new 15-inch MacBook Pro will start shipping today.
