Playing your favorite mobile games on a computer just got a whole lot easier. Andy is a standalone Android OS application for your desktop, bringing the full Android experience from your phone to your PC or Mac. Andy runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and the developers plan to keep the program current with the most recent version of Android as future updates roll out. Once you’ve installed the software, you’ll be asked to sign into your Google account as well as 1ClickSync in order to sync up Andy and the Android device you want to pair with your desktop.
If you want to use your phone or tablet in conjunction with your computer, the Andy app for Android devices will allow you to control the emulator from your mobile device. This is especially useful for games or apps that require the accelerometer or a touchscreen in order to function. The app hasn’t appeared on Google Play quite yet, but you can download the APK file from Dropbox.
It’s not be the Android laptop we’ve been waiting to see, but Andy should serve as a decent stopgap for any Android users desperate to put the mobile operating system on their desktops. You can download Andy for free from the company’s website.
