Many reports have so far claimed that Google is working on two different Nexus handsets that’ll be launched later this year, including a Huawei phablet and an LG smartphone. And now a new story out Asia claims that LG’s version of the new Nexus will have at least one surprise under the hood.

According to iNews24, LG is apparently testing a 3D camera assembly for its 2015 Nexus model, though it’s not immediately clear why Google would require such camera capabilities from its next-gen Nexus handsets. Google will apparently rely on Qualcomm to provide the chips of its next-gen Nexus handset, with the Snapdragon 810 mentioned as a possible choice for the LG handset.
The handset is expected to run the latest Android version out of the box when it launches in October and will likely be the first phone to run Android M.
A few weeks ago, Google announced Android M and released a developer build of it to developers and eager early adopters. The preview version of the upcoming software release shows that future Nexus handsets will come with fingerprint sensors and Android Pay support, but also with fast-charging USB-C ports. Google has been internally using a Nexus 5 sporting a fingerprint sensor, as shown in this Google I/O presentation.
