Try as it might, Apple just can’t seem to ditch Samsung as a key component supplier. Under late co-founder Steve Jobs’s watch, it looked like Apple and Samsung would eventually several all ties as the companies’ battles in court continued to sour their relationship. Current CEO Tim Cook may be more willing to forgive and forget, however. A new report from NPD DisplaySearch picked up by CNET states that Samsung supplied more displays for Apple’s full-size iPad during the June quarter than LG Display, which was previously Apple’s main iPad panel supplier. DisplaySearch claims that Apple has been boosting display orders from Samsung since January, claiming that Apple bought 2.3 million panels from Samsung in the first quarter this year and more than 4.1 million in Q2. Finally, the report states that Samsung will also supply displays for Apple’s next-generation iPad mini, which is expected to debut this fall.
Apple’s hate for Samsung may be fading
