In an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci confirmed that the company has plans to launch a tablet PC line. Acer is currently the second largest PC maker on the planet and Lanci knows that there’s a chance tablets will eat into laptop sales in the coming years. Better safe than sorry, and Acer will play it safe initially by launching a series of tablets ranging in price from $299 to $699. While no specifics were discussed — the Acer CEO didn’t even reveal whether the company’s first run of tablets would run Android or Windows 7 — Lanci did say that Acer’s first tablet offering would launch on November 23rd. Acer’s goal, according to its head executive, is to become the “leader in mobile solutions for PC products from 3-inch to 20-inch.”
