When Mythbusters announced in 2014 that popular team members Kari Byron, Tory Bellecci and Grant Imahara would be leaving the show, returning the format to a two-host affair with Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, there were lots of unhappy fans. Now, after months of teasing a new Netflix original, we finally get a look at what the trio have been working on.
White Rabbit Project isn’t officially a Mythbusters spin-off, but you’d never know that by looking at it. Following the same “let’s see if this works” style of the Discovery Channel hit, the new Netflix series is all about experiments, stunts, and fun.

The first trailer for White Rabbit Project features fast cars, crashing drones, big flames, and plenty of the trademark humor that made Byron, Bellecci and Imahara such a beloved part of the Mythbusters series. But along with that seems to be an added layer of history, with the trio narrating reenactments of the events that they go on to test.
None of this should come as much of a surprise, however, as the three hosts have developed a very particular set of science skills thanks to their experience busting myths. That, and the fact that White Rabbit Project is being produced by Beyond Productions, which also produced Mythbusters.
The show is an interesting choice for Netflix, which has charged full-speed into original programming, but has overwhelmingly opted for fictional drama and comedy, rather than reality or science-focused programs. With Amazon taking a bold chance and bringing the Top Gear trio into its fold with The Grand Tour, perhaps Netflix just couldn’t allow itself to be one-upped. Whatever the case, we get more big explosions and ridiculous experiments, so it’s a win-win.
