Google on Thursday announced some very cool new features for its Inbox app, which has been called an “email killer” by several pundits. On its Gmail blog, the company detailed a new reminders feature that can sit atop the inbox in order to let users easily save and access “to-dos” for later. More than 20 pieces of information, dubbed “assists” can then further help with reminders, with Inbox also able to combine assists and learn from past experiences.

In order to save reminders, users can simply add an email address, phone number or link to a reminder. Once that’s done, the smart assists could provide additional information about a reminder, helping the user better schedule his or her activities to handle those to-dos in due time.
“Some Assists even combine information from multiple sources to give you what you need,” Google writes. “For example, when you create a reminder to return a product you purchased, the purchase date and business from your confirmation email, the business’s return policy from the Knowledge Graph, and the current date all combine to give you a countdown of how many days you have left to return your purchase.”
In addition to the new Reminders feature, Google has also updated its Inbox for Android app, bringing Android Wear support and optimizing the Inbox experience for Android tablet use.
