One of the most encouraging trends that we’ve seen in recent years has been ISPs doing more to appeal to cord cutters, a.k.a., people who like watching quality television but who don’t want to pay outrageous sums of money each month for hundreds of channels they’ll never watch. DSLReports brings us word that AT&T is now offering what might be the most tempting package to cord cutters yet: A bundle that includes broadband, HBO and Amazon Prime for just $40 per month over the first year.

ANOTHER GOOD OFFER: A cord cutter’s dream come true: Comcast offers HBO without cable service

As with all great things, some caveats apply — you’ll need to live in an area where AT&T offers its U-Verse services since you won’t be able to get this kind of service using plain old AT&T DSL. Second, remember that while this deal is great, AT&T will jack up your prices after the first year — according to DSLReports, similar $40 packages have shot up to between $70 and $80 per month after the end of their trial periods.

Nonetheless, this is definitely the most aggressive and impressive broadband bundle for cord cutters that we’ve seen and the amount of value you’re getting from the first year could even justify the prices doubling in the second year.
