We knew Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Active was a ruggedized and waterproof version of last year’s flagship Galaxy S4 model, but we had no idea just how rugged the smartphone was until now. Redditor “yapinjapin1” posted Tuesday evening in the Android subreddit to share the tale of his friend’s Galaxy S4 Active, which recently did battle with a lawn mower and somehow survived. And we’re not talking about a tiny mower here, we’re talking about a nice big riding mower.

“My friend was mowing his lawn on his riding lawn mower listening to music on his Samsung Galaxy S4 Active when he felt his phone fall [sic] out of his pocket,” the Redditor wrote. “He looked down to see it tumble under the mower. The phone was hit by the blade and took a slice out of the top right corner of the phone. The phone still is operational, the music did not stop playing and the screen functions properly. The screen has hairline cracks down the whole screen but they are not very visible when the phone is on.”

Accompanying pictures show that the damage is a bit more substantial than he suggests in his post, but the phone still survived a spill that likely would have torn lesser handsets to shreds. Not only did it survive, in fact, but it still functions perfectly and a new glass cover will have this Galaxy S4 Active back in action in no time.

A pair of images follow below and the rest can be seen in the original post, which is linked down in our source section.
