Samsung is perhaps best known for its market-leading smartphone business but more so than any other technology giant, Samsung operates across a wide range of businesses. It makes televisions, appliances, computers and even the components that power them all. As a result, Samsung is perhaps better equipped than most to take stabs at shaping futuristic environments, because it can develop and build almost all of the relevant tech in-house.

The company recently showed off some of its concepts, and ZDNet came back from the showcase with some interesting takeaways.

Samsung’s most intriguing technology demo was likely its airport of the future, where big screens are scattered about the walls to display information as well as advertisements. Ticketing is done digitally and the implementation of facial recognition tech means travellers are no longer bothered with constantly having to show their IDs.

Touchscreens inside retail shops throughout the airport can be used to find information about various products available for sale, and they can also pull up product reviews.

Finally, smartphones can be used to read QR codes on screens around the airport in order to take control of their displays and find information using the smartphone as a remote.

A pair of photos follows below and plenty more can be found on ZDNet, which is linked below in our source section.
