What’s better than a nice paid Android app? A nice free Android app. And what’s better than a nice free Android app? Getting paid to download a free Android app. Amazon on Thursday announced a special Memorial Day promotion unlike like any we’ve seen in the past. Rather than simply offering a few nice paid apps for free like most app sales do, Amazon is offering to pay customers to download five specific free apps from the Amazon Appstore.
From now through the end of May, users who download Food Network In the Kitchen, Don’t Step the White Tile, Dr. Panda’s Restaurant, iHeartRadio or Strawberry Shortcake Bake Shop from the Amazon Appstore will receive 200 free “Amazon Coins” per app. Each of the aforementioned titles is completely free to download.
What is an Amazon Coin? It’s basically a virtual currency tied to real money that allows users to purchase apps or make in-app purchases in apps downloaded through the Amazon Appstore. 100 Amazon Coins have a value of $1, so each app you download from the list above will net you $2 to spend on apps or in-app purchases.
In other words, if you download the five free apps listed above, you walk away with a $10 Amazon Appstore credit.
The deal is good from now through May 31st. A link to all five apps in the Amazon Appstore can be found below in our source section.
