Images of Apple’s (AAPL) next-generation “iPhone 5S” have seemingly leaked, revealing a handset very similar in design to the current iPhone 5. Photos purportedly showing the upcoming new iPhone model were published recently on Chinese-language sjbbs.zol.com and later picked up by a number of sites. The images are said to have been taken inside a Foxconn factory and they reportedly show the iPhone 5S coming off an assembly line. The exterior design of the device pictured matches the current model, as expected, but there are several differences with the device’s internal layout that can be seen in the photos. Recent reports suggest that the iPhone 5S could launch this summer alongside a new cheaper iPhone. Additional images of the purported iPhone 5S follow below.
UPDATE: 9to5Mac, which was one of the first U.S. sites to pick up the story, posted an update suggesting the images may show an iPhone 5 clone rather than the next-generation iPhone 5S. The site points to the smaller 1,050 mAh battery seen in the images as a possible giveaway.
