In this digital age, we expect all of our devices to multi-task as much as we do. Our video game consoles need to serve as capable media centers, our watches need to receive email, and apparently our projectors need to double as Wi-Fi hotspots. ZTE announced its lineup for CES 2014 on Thursday, and one of the most interesting devices on the list is succinctly titled the Projector Hotspot.

“This device is great for streaming and sharing visual content whether you’re in the office, at home (inside or outside) or in the classroom,” says ZTE. “With its compact size, the unit can provide 4G access for up to eight clients simultaneously.”

ZTE will also be showcasing a variety of other devices, including the Grand S II, nubia 5S and nubia 5S mini smartphones, the Iconic Phablet, and a wearable device called the BlueWatch. The full press release can be found below.

LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ZTE, one of the top global handset manufacturers, will unveil a range of high-performance smartphones and consumer electronics products to meet the needs of today’s consumers. ZTE’s newest devices include a variety of solutions, including the Grand S II flagship smartphone with cutting edge voice control technology, a mobile hotspot with a built-in projector, a new smart watch and a phablet with dual screen functionality, among others.

“ZTE has been developing a portfolio of fantastic consumer electronics on top of the smartphones for which we’ve become well known,” said Mr. Zeng Xuezhong, ZTE EVP and Head of the Mobile Devices Division. “This year, we will be focusing on pairing unique designs with unparalleled technology in order to offer customers the best possible experience at an affordable price.”

World-class Smartphones

The second-generation flagship smartphone Grand S II is the latest evolution in ZTE’s high-end Grand Series line. As ZTE’s first high-precision voice phone, the Grand S II features the latest intelligent voice control technology, enabling voice recognition unlocking and voice-to-phone photography. The Grand S II also offers a host of high-precision audio features, including triple-MIC noise reduction for more natural and clearer voice calls.

ZTE further expands its flagship line of handsets with the nubia 5S and nubia 5S mini, the next generation in its nubia series. Both devices feature screaming-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processors, and professional-grade photography hardware and software characteristic of the nubia series. The larger nubia 5S features a five-inch Sharp 1080p FHD display, a 13 MP camera with a Sony RS sensor, F2.0 aperture, DSLR-like photo options, and 4K Ultra HD video capture, while the nubia 5S mini features a 4.7-inch Sharp IGZO display and comes in an array of colorful finishes.

ZTE is also bringing a new, blazing-fast, 4G smartphone to market in partnership with Aio Wireless. The ZTE Sonata 4G™ comes packed with a powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 400 processor with 1.2 GHz Dual-core CPU and 1GB RAM for quick browsing and multi-tasking. The ZTE Sonata is also fitted with a 5 MP camera with flash, capable of 720p video capture, a vivid 4” display, and a 1780mAh battery.

Phablets, Hotspots and Other Devices

On the larger-format side of the spectrum, ZTE is debuting its very first Iconic Phablet. This device features a smart viewer that allows two applications to be simultaneously displayed on the screen, and it’s equipped with a dual-core processor, and a 5.7” HD screen complete with Gorilla Glass, Dolby Digital Sound and a wireless charging feature.

ZTE has also developed a mini projector and Wi-Fi hotspot all-in-one, the Projector Hotspot. This device is great for streaming and sharing visual content whether you’re in the office, at home (inside or outside) or in the classroom. With its compact size, the unit can provide 4G access for up to eight clients simultaneously.

ZTE is also introducing its first smart watch, the BlueWatch, which features a built-in pedometer, and records and analyzes data around the clock, giving users access to interesting “quantified self” information like body fat percentage. The watch tethers to a smartphone via Bluetooth, enabling on-wrist control of calls, content, photography, and social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Lastly, ZTE is working with AT&T to develop the AT&T Wireless Home Base device, which allows users to connect their home telephone to the AT&T wireless network, and enjoy unlimited local and long distance calling for $20 per month. No telephone jack is required; plug your home phone into ZTE’s device in the kitchen, bedroom, on vacation or anywhere there’s an electrical outlet.

ZTE’s latest technology will be on display in ZTE’s booth at CES 2014, located at South Hall 4, booth 31431. More information is also available at http://www.cesweb.org.
