Some of the best iOS apps and tweaks aren’t always available to all users because Apple would never allow them on its App Store in the first place. Such is the case of a popular jailbreak tweak called f.lux that we’ve highlighted in previous best jailbreak app roundups.
However, f.lux’s developer has devised a clever trick that lets you install the app on your device, which means you won’t have to jailbreak it.

What f.lux does is to automatically adjust the screen brightness depending on the time of day, improving your overall experience and your sleep. Many studies have shown that the light that smart devices emit might mess with your sleep if you’re using them right before bedtime, so this app can fix that problem for you.
“f.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day,” the developer explains.
Unfortunately, until now, you couldn’t install it without a jailbreak, as Apple doesn’t give apps access to the iPhone’s screen brightness controls.
To install f.lux on your iPhone 6s without worrying about all the hassles that come with jailbreaking, you need to become a developer. The process is a bit tedious but likely easier than jailbreaking. You also have to get Xcode 7 from Apple (a free download) and register as a developer. A Mac running OS X 10.10 or later is also required though you might be able to install the app using Xcode on a PC.
The developer offers highly detailed step-by-step instructions for installing f.lux on your iPhone 6s (or any other iOS-powered gadget) and it explains both how the app works and how you can update it.
While this particular app installation procedure is definitely legal, Apple probably won’t appreciate users sideloading fully functional apps on their devices by using this loophole, especially because it poses certain security risks, as these apps aren’t verified by Apple.
