The guys at the Pentagon are really screwed this time. CNN is reporting that the Pentagon’s email servers were penetrated by an unknown assailant sometime on Wednesday. Roughly 1/3 of all email accounts were affected, with the entire system being taken offline while the competent IT department determined the root of the problem. 1,500 Pentagon employees are still without email. We would imagine that this would create quite a lull in productivity, right? This was a non-classified system, so nothing of extreme importance was at risk, but the fact remains that the security of the department in charge of the nation’s Armed Forces was significantly compromised. Nice job, guys. Seriously, great work.
