Microsoft recently partnered with Ford to deliver an integrated music system for the car. With their latest patent it seems as if this is becoming more of a reality. The patent includes a portable audio unit that can be sync’d and docked in a car unit. It may work with more then just a Zune or not even a Zune at all, as the patent describes the portable device as a “handheld computer.” Ford is dubbing the device the “Sync”, (creative right?) and plans to offer it on twelve of their 2008 model year vehicles including the Focus, Fusion, Five Hundred, Edge, Freestyle, Explorer and Sport Trac; Mercury Milan, Montego and Mountaineer; and Lincoln MKX and MKZ. Zune away!
