Most reasonable people would agree that the taxi industry for years has been in serious need of more competition. Where people disagree is whether Uber is the right company to disrupt transportation services. A new video from the team at Cracked acknowledges that the taxi industry really deserves to get pummeled by Uber while also explaining that Uber is “a terrible company run by maniacs.”

First, Cracked explores the sins of the American industry and they are many. Taxis often smell. Riding with a reckless taxi driver is something just about everyone has experienced. The taxi industry’s medallion system breeds insane levels of corruption.

So along comes Uber to save the day, right? Well, not quite.

Cracked notes that, as corrupt as the taxi industry is, it at least makes its drivers go through six-hour training courses and makes them undergo criminal background checks. With Uber, training consists of watching a 13-minute YouTube video and its background checks would be laughable if they didn’t involve giving driving jobs to people with histories of drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter.
