In an attempt to decrease roaming costs, Verizon Wireless has just put pen to paper a deal that will buy out a company called Rural Cellular. The deal is for $2.7 billion, and they’re anticipating a savings of over $1 billion in roaming costs alone. In addition, their subscriber base could increase by 700,000 after the deal goes through. Look for the deal to close some time in the first half of 2008. We can’t wait.
