Yesterday Sony Ericsson announced two new devices for the North American market – the C510a Cyber-shot handset and the W508a Walkman phone. Both feature quad-band EDGE and tri-band 3G in addition to video calling. Apart from their obvious differences in terms of music phone versus camera phone, both phones are easily distinguished by their form factor. The C510a went the candy bar route while the W508a is a clamshell. By no means smartphones, these two devices are able to compensate for their lack of jaw-dropping features through the very polished OS. Carriers have yet to be announced, but a phone like the W508a seems very much like the type of device that Rogers and Fido love to offer and lack of 1700MHz doesn’t bode well for T-Mobile. Both are slated for release in H1 of this year. Specs after the jump.
