There have been countless things that, when attached to a solar panel, either look ridiculous, or completely lose their functionality. There is a new technology that may change that, however. Researchers have found a photovoltaic sensor that converts infrared light to electricity. The next step is to shrink those down into “quantum dots” small enough to be added/used in liquids, such as paint. Researcher Ted Sargent believes that one day most surfaces will be coated in infrared light converters, and that we could see the technology realistically show up in the next decade. Holla.
