Podcasting: Another area where the iPhone trounces Android

Well, you can add podcasting to the growing list of items where the iPhone outpaces Android. According to a recent report from Clammr, 82% of all podcast listening occurs on the iPhone compared to just 16% for Android. This figure is made all the more impressive given Android’s marketshare superiority.

Also of note is that the majority of podcast listening on the iPhone occurs on Apple’s podcast app. Meanwhile, the report highlights that fragmentation is a contributing factor towards limited podcasting growth on Google’s Android platform.

Data like this isn’t wholly unusual. After all, we’re using to see research which demonstrates that iPhone users, on average, are much more engaged with their devices than their Android counterparts. Just a few months ago, for instance, we highlighted how the iPhone is responsible for 75% of Google’s mobile-based ad revenue.
