Republic Wireless announced on Thursday that it will begin offering the Moto X smartphone for $299 without a contract. For the sake of comparison, other carriers are selling Motorola’s phone for around $600 unsubsidized. Republic Wireless will offer several unlimited plans for the phone starting in November. For talk, text and data on Wi-Fi, but without any cellular service, Republic will only be asking for $5 a month. Cell service for talk and text costs $10 a month, full 3G service costs $20, and 4G will run you $40. Republic customers are free to switch between plans up to two times each month as well. There is no release date yet for Republic Wireless’ Moto X.
