Every state in the U.S. has its own unique culture, which also means it has its own unique Google searches. Real estate search site Estately recently dove into Google search data and came up with some common search items in each state that it deemed embarrassing. As you can see in the map above, people in Massachusetts have been searching a lot for “deflated balls” recently thanks to the alleged antics of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, while people in Tennessee seem to really want to know whether Bigfoot is real.

Drilling down beyond the terms shown on the map, we can see that some states have some truly frightening embarrassing searches. In Mississippi, for example, these are the top eight embarrassing searches:

Gonorrhea / chlamydia / feet photos (image search) / penis enlargement / male enhancement / R. Kelly (musical performer) / Aryan Brotherhood / Blind Melon (band)

Yuck

.

Other amusing searches include people in Montana asking for the location of Canada despite the fact that the state shares a border with our neighbor to the north; people in California showing an above-average interest in both Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard; and people in Maine who want to find Nickelback lyrics.

Why, Maine residents? Just, why?
