Today, analytics company comScore released their report on the “leading mobile original equipment manufacturers and smartphone operating system platforms in the U.S. according to their share of current mobile subscribers age 13 and older” for May of 2010. Let’s start with smartphone operating systems. comScore’s findings are as follows: RIM 41.7% (-0.4%), Apple 24.4% (-1.0%), Microsoft 13.2% (-1.9%), Google 13% (+4.0%), and Palm 4.8% (- 0.6%). You’ll note that all smartphone platforms listed lost ground…except for Android. As for U.S. mobile OEM manufacturer popularity (not smartphone exclusive): Samsung, LG, Motorola, RIM, and Nokia round out the top five. The study goes onto state that 49.1 million people in the United States now own smartphones; an 8.1% increase from February of this year. What do you think? Surprised by any of the findings?
