LG has announced that it will be holding a press event on August 7th in New York City, where it’s a good bet that the company will be showing off a sequel to its flagship Optimus G smartphone. LG took the unconventional step on Thursday of announcing that it had reached a deal with Qualcomm to use its quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor in the next version of the Optimus G, so it’s very likely that the company is planning to launch the device in the coming months. Among other things, the Snapdragon 800 includes support for ultra HD resolution, LTE-Advanced connectivity and always-on voice commands that let users activate their devices with their voices instead of by touching the screen.
