How LG could have made the G3 even better

Although we haven’t yet used the LG G3 extensively enough to write a full review, the look of the phone alone is terrific and a huge improvement over the LG G2 in just about every way. Speaking with Trusted Reviews, LG design executive Chul Bae Lee revealed that he’d originally pushed to make the G3 even better looking by making its side bezels even slimmer than they are right now.

“In order to accommodate this large screen, the bezel has to be very slim, that’s a given condition,” Lee told TrustedReviews. “I kept squeezing my engineers to make it slimmer and slimmer. They are all my friends but they didn’t meet my expectations and this is the best we can do as of today. It is still one of the best in the market and it is all related to the technology development as well.”

This is pretty remarkable when you consider that LG has become something of a pioneer in terms of making smartphones with tiny bezels — a study conducted earlier this year found LG accounted four of the top 10 smartphones on the market with the slimmest bezels, and this was even before the G3 came out.

While we’ve still yet to see any device released yet with a completely edge-to-edge display, we would absolutely put our money on LG being the first company to get there.
