New reports seem to indicate again that LG will launch its next-generation flagship smartphone much sooner than anticipated, with the LG G3 expected to hit stores at some point this summer, according to independent reports from Giga.de and PhoneArena. The former has learned from a “reliable” source close to the matter that the G3 may be unveiled at some point in June, while the latter posted a purported G3 camera image sample. Earlier reports from Korea also hinted that the phone may be launched in May or June.

Giga.de has further said that the G3 will come with a new type of display on board, although it did not reveal more details about it. While LG is yet to confirm the news, the person who apparently posted the G3 camera image on a forum hints that the phone will “probably” launch in July.

“[…] here is something from me. My friend is testing LG G3 for [a] mobile operator, so he has access to that smartphone, user Geek on Monday said on ortud, when posting the image below. “He sent to me couple of sample photos from LG G3. I just uploaded one, so [you] can see that G3 is a really big thing – just look at this perfect photo. My friend told me that LG G3 has almost same camera as LG G Pro 2 – with OIS+, 13 MP sensor etc. When are we going to see LG G3? Probably in July.”

The EXIF data of the image reveals the photo has been taken with an LG-D972 device and has a resolution of 4160 x 2342. The model number is not currently attributed to any LG device.

In past years, LG launched flagship devices like the Optimus G (2012) and the G2 (2013) in the second half of the year, with the devices also being inspirations for the Nexus handsets that quickly followed them, including the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S5 will go on sale in multiple markets starting with April 11. Samsung has also hurried to market with its 2014 flagship phone, in order to address poorer than expected Galaxy S4 sales.
