There are two things that Apple will never tell you when it comes to its iOS devices, and that’s how much memory an iPhone or iPad has, and what size the batteries are. Apple probably thinks these details aren’t important to iPhone and iPad buyers, yet they clearly are for many people, so it doesn’t tell you anything about RAM or battery during the event, in the subsequent press releases, or in the specs sections of the new products’ web pages.

When it comes to its MacBooks, however, Apple does jot down memory options on its website. That’s likely because users can opt for a configuration that has more or less RAM, something that’s not available on iPhone – but it doesn’t offer battery size on laptops either.

This year Apple significantly upgraded RAM for iPhone 6s, iPad Pro and Apple TV, and many reports can confirm these details well ahead of future teardown jobs.

2GB of RAM

That’s how much the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and Apple TV 4th-generation are getting this year.

Apple confirmed to MobileSyrup during hands-on with the iPhone 6s models that both devices come with 2GB of RAM on board, just as rumors suggested. Comparatively, the iPhone 6 series only has 1GB of RAM across the board.

Apple TV documentation, meanwhile, tells developers looking to create content for the new set-top box that the device has 2GB of RAM, 9to5Mac reports.

4GB of RAM

The beastly iPad Pro that’s ready to challenge many competing laptops and tablets including Apple’s older but similarly-sized MacBooks has 4GB of RAM. That’s certainly understandable, considering that the bigger tablet has to pull off some amazing tricks, like running full apps side-by-side and delivering powerful graphics and animation.

Apple enthusiast John Gruber wrote on his site that he believes the new iPad Pro has to have 4GB of RAM. “If we were to wager on the amount of RAM in iPad Pro, my bet would be 4GB. And I would wager very heavily,” he said, and he’d win that wager, Adobe seems to indicate.

In a blog post announcing the new iPad Pro apps Adobe unveiled on stage during the iPhone 6s event, the company clearly mentioned that the new tablet has 4GB of RAM on board.

“During Apple’s keynote, we also demonstrated the extraordinary speed and precision of Adobe’s Creative Cloud mobile apps on Apple’s new iPad Pro. iPad Pro is great for creative workflows with a high res 12.9″ touch screen display at 2732 x 2048 pixels, A9X chip, and 4GB RAM,” the company wrote.
