Remember that awesome free website by developer Mordy Tikotzky called “iPhone Checker” that let Apple fans check iPhone 5s inventory at nearby Apple Stores in real time? Well it’s gone. Don’t worry though, Tikotzky has launched an even better redesigned service in its place. Now dubbed “Apple Tracker,” the service’s reach has been extended beyond the iPhone 5s to include the new iPad Air, which debuted on Friday. It also includes support for the iPad mini with Retina display, though the feature obviously won’t be of much use until Apple’s second-generation iPad mini launches sometime later this month. Once the tablet does launch, however, supply constraints will likely make this website extremely useful.
Using the site couldn’t be easier. From the home page, simply select the iPad Air at the top of the screen. Then select your desired color and carrier from the drop-down menus, enter your zip code and click “Find your iPad Air.” The resulting grid will show you exactly what models are in and out of stock at your 20 closest Apple Store locations.
Email alerts aren’t yet available for the iPad Air like they are for the iPhone 5s but if stock gets light enough around the country, perhaps Tikotzky will add the feature. And as has been the case since the service launched, it’s completely free to use — the developer only asks that you consider making a donation if it helps you find a new iPhone or iPad.
UPDATE: Tikotzky confirmed to BGR that he is indeed working on adding email alerts for the iPad Air and the service should be live soon.
