The latest numbers from mobile advertising network Chitika paint a pleasant picture for iPhone and iPad users who want to have the latest software on their devices. The research firm found that while iOS 6 adoption has begun to level off, Apple’s (AAPL) latest operating system is now on more than 60% of iPhones and iPads, compared to less than 2% of Android devices running the latest Jelly Bean operating system. The iOS 6 update was an instant hit, achieving a 15% market share in its first 24 hours and surpassing 50% adoption within 2 weeks. The operating system’s adoption rate is still growing, but since a majority of users have already upgraded, it is doing so at a much slower rate. With the launch of Apple’s iPad mini looming, Chitika expects iOS 6 adoption to receive a boost that will likely see it surpass 70%. A second Chitika chart follows below.
