Get excited, Salt Lake City residents — you’re about to get access to the fastest Internet service in the United States. Google on Tuesday announced that it would be bringing Google Fiber to Salt Lake City, which actually will make it the second city in Utah to have access to the service. Google first announced it was bringing Fiber to Provo, Utah back in 2013.

The agreement to bring Google Fiber to Salt Lake City means that Google has now announced plans to bring the service to five new markets this year alone. In January, Google announced that Google Fiber would soon be coming to Atlanta, Georgia; Nashville, Tennessee; and Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina.
In addition to these five confirmed expansions, Google is still listing Portland, San Jose, Phoenix, and San Antonio as “potential” Fiber cities, which means that the company is still working on figuring out ways to bring the service to those markets. In other words, even though these cities haven’t yet won the Google Fiber sweepstakes, there’s a very real possibility that they could still get the service in the future.
