Against all odds, the Gear VR turned out to be an incredibly cool accessory. Unfortunately, unless you own a Galaxy Note 4, you aren’t able to use one, but according to SamMobile, that’s going to change. SamMobile’s sources say that both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S Edge will support the virtual reality display when they launch later this year.

This probably won’t come as much of a shock, considering the Gear VR is brand new and Samsung wouldn’t abandon it this early in its life cycle, but it does pose some interesting questions. For example, if the Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch display, how will it fit inside the Gear VR, a device designed for a 5.7-inch phablet?
Perhaps the Galaxy S6 is larger than we think. Although most of the recent rumors point to a standard 5.1-inch display, there’s always the possibility that Samsung has decided to boost the size of its next major flagship.
On the other hand, Samsung might simply be preparing a new Gear VR to work with regular-sized smartphones. After all, would it really be that surprising to see multiple models of the same device coming from Samsung over the course of a few months?
None of this was confirmed by SamMobile’s source, but we’re sure to find out more in the coming months as Samsung prepares to launch its next flagships.
