Even though Samsung has denied Galaxy S5 ‘Prime’ rumors that suggested the company will launch a premium high-end model of the Galaxy S5 later this year – the device was said to have a high-resolution 2K display on more than one occasion before and after the Galaxy S5 announcement – such a device may still be in the works. A new GFXBench benchmark test for a yet-to-be-announced SM-G906S smartphone from Samsung reveals a device with a quad HD display (2560 x 1440 pixels), seemingly confirming previous rumors.

Other specs include a 5.2-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 16-megapixel camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. However, Samsung may only test such a prototype and never launch an actual 2K Galaxy S5 version. For what it’s worth, this phone’s model number shows it is related to the Galaxy S5 family, which has model number SM-G900*. The phone’s specs also suggest it’s similar to the Galaxy S5.

Previous rumors revealed that the company may be working on a high-end “F” family of handsets that would not be part of the Galaxy S flagship line. However, Samsung is yet to confirm those claims. The other Samsung flagship smartphone expected to launch later this year is the Galaxy Note 4, which will likely be unveiled in early September.
