Live blogs are so 2012. These days all the big announcements are accompanied by live streaming video, and to call Samsung’s new Galaxy S5 a “big announcement” is probably a bit of an understatement. Unless something amazing happens to somehow turn the tide, the Galaxy S5 will be this year’s biggest Android launch by mile, with millions of handsets flying off of store shelves the moment the phone becomes available to purchase. We’ve read the rumors and seen the leaks, but now Samsung’s brand new Galaxy S5 is finally about to get official.
According to a number of earlier reports, specs for the Galaxy S5 include a 5.25-inch display with quad HD resolution, a 2.5GHz quad-core processor or an 8-core Exynos processor depending on the model, a 16-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 3GB of RAM, a 3,000 mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat with a new version of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface on top.
We also saw crystal clear photos of what is claimed to be the Galaxy S5 leak earlier on Monday.
Will Samsung’s 2014 hero phone live up to our lofty expectations? After a painfully long wait, we’re finally about to find out.
