Samsung (005930) is expected to take the wraps off its next-generation flagship smartphone in less than three weeks, but details surrounding the upcoming Galaxy S IV continue to trickle out in the meantime. The latest leak came on Friday from MobileFun, which published photos of what it claims to be third-party protective cases built for the Galaxy S IV.
If the case designs do in fact represent the upcoming handset’s actual design, Samsung is seemingly moving away from the smooth, rounded enclosure on the Galaxy S III and back toward a design reminiscent of its Galaxy S II smartphone.
Samsung has gone to great lengths to prevent its flagship devices from leaking in the past, however, making it impossible to know if the design represented by these cases is accurate — while the Galaxy S III was in development last year, Samsung workers tested the device in three different enclosures so that no one would know what shape the phone would take at launch.
The Galaxy S IV is expected to feature a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with full-HD resolution, a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean when it is released some time in the first half of 2013.
