There’s a new mobile offer that Europeans looking for even more affordable cellphone service should know about. After selling free mobile service to American smartphone buyers for a few years, FreedomPop is now doing the same thing in its first European market, the U.K.

The company on Tuesday announced that it’s going to be the first carrier to offer free mobile service to interested customers in the region. The most basic (and free) plan includes 200 voice minutes, 200 texts and 200MB of data per month. Buyers looking to subscribe to FreedomPop’s offer only need FreedomPop’s new application or a new international SIM.

Additionally, FreedomPop subscribers get free unlimited calls and texts between them, and free international calling to over 60 countries. Other perks include support for rolling over unused data, anonymous browsing, and support for a second phone number from over 60 countries, so that friends and family outside of the U.K. can call at local rates.

The service will be expanded to five other European countries in the following year, the company said.

FreedomPop also announced a new international SIM card, the FreedomPop Jettsetter, which is described as “the world’s first free roaming data SIM” card. The Jettsetter will be available later this year, and will offer users who travel in European countries 100MB of traffic each month. Initially, U.K., Spain and France will be supported, but the service should be expanded to more than 20 other markets.

FREEDOMPOP EXPANDS TO EUROPE WITH LAUNCH OF UK’S FIRST FREE MOBILE SERVICE

FreedomPop also announces Jettsetter, a global SIM offering free international roaming

LOS ANGELES, CA & LONDON, U.K. – MAY 12, 2015 – Following the success of its free and high-speed mobile service in the U.S., FreedomPop today announced plans for its much-anticipated international expansion into Europe. The U.K. will be the first European market to launch service this summer, offering residents 100 percent free mobile service with simple plans.

FreedomPop is the first to offer free mobile service to U.K. residents, which will include 200 MBs of data, 200 voice minutes and 200 texts completely free each month via the FreedomPop app or new international SIM. FreedomPop is now accepting Beta orders on a first-come, first-serve basis at FreedomPop.com/UK.

FreedomPop users will also enjoy free unlimited calls and texts to each other and free international calling to over 60 countries. In addition, users will benefit from:
· Ability to rollover unused data
· Anonymous browsing to protect their online privacy and third-party hackers
· Ability to add a second phone number from over 60 countries so that friends and family outside the U.K. can call at local rates. U.S. numbers are available for just £2 per month.

“We’ve seen tremendous success in providing free mobile connectivity with our value-added services in the U.S., and now we want to make it available to everyone, wherever they are,” said Steven Sesar, FreedomPop COO and co-founder.

FreedomPop is also announcing its newest product, FreedomPop Jetsetter, the world’s first free roaming data SIM, which will launch later this year. Jetsetter users will receive 100 MBs of free high-speed data per month initially for use in the U.K., Spain and France. The service, available over high-speed networks, will expand to more than 20 countries. Beta invite requests are available at FreedomPop.com/Jetsetter.

“Now those traveling abroad will also benefit from free roaming data over high-speed networks without their speeds being throttled, unlike Google’s recent roaming offering,” added Sesar.

FreedomPop will establish its European headquarters in London, and plans to expand its free service to five other countries within the next year.
