Just as quickly as the refurbished 8 GB iPhone appeared on AT&T’s site, it was gone. It looks like there was a hoard of people teetering on the fence over whether or not to make the leap to iPhonesville and the $150 discount was more than enough incentive. There is no word on exactly how many refurbished units AT&T made available but however many it was, it didn’t take long to unload them. Just about two days in fact. There are also reports that many stores are out as well but from what we can tell, the bulk of the bounty was offered online. Considering there was a limit of one purchase per customer, that adds up to a whole lot of people with shiny [almost] new iPhones. Non-US residents may benefit most from the fire sale as there are already plenty of refurbs available on eBay. Of course you’ll pay a premium over the AT&T price; in fact the average sale looks to be around $400. Although that is the price of a new unit here in the US, it’s not a bad deal for those who live abroad and want to pick up an unlocked iPhone for local use.

[Thanks Tom]
