Apple Watch Augmented Reality

It never ceases to amaze us how creative developers get in order to solve simple problems. Apple’s first foray into both the wearables and luxury goods space is the Apple Watch, and it won’t be released for another month. Apple is giving interested shoppers an early look at the device in stores beginning April 10th, when appointments will be taken at Apple Stores to check out the new device and preorder it.

But you don’t have to wait another minute to see how the Apple Watch will look on your wrist, thanks to a brilliant new app that uses augmented reality to let you check out the Apple Watch right now.

Developers at the Belgian IT firm Underside have created a fantastic free iPhone app called ARWatch that does exactly what its name suggests: It lets you see how the Apple Watch will look on your wrist using augmented reality.

The ARWatch app can be downloaded for free from this site. It’s not available in the App Store, so you’ll have to download it from the company’s website and tap “Trust” in the pop-up on your iPhone if you want to open it.

You’ll need to print out a paper target first and fix it to your wrist but once you do, you will be able to try on both the 38mm and 42mm Apple Watch models in a variety of colors. You can also take screenshots to compare later.

Here’s a video from AppleInsider showing this brilliant augmented reality app in action:
