Apple (AAPL) was awarded more than $1 billion earlier this year when a California jury determined more than two-dozen Samsung (005930) devices infringed on the company’s protected design and technology patents. Not content to take the money and run, Apple also asked the United States District court for the Northern District of California to ban the sale of 26 different Android-powered Samsung devices in the U.S. Judge Lucy Koh formally denied that request late Monday, FOSS Patents reports. While Apple is expected to appeal the ruling, it’s not all bad news for the Cupertino, California-based company: Koh also denied Samsung’s request for a retrial based on claims of jury misconduct.
