Apple and Samsung may really hate one another but that doesn’t mean they’re going to break out of their mutually codependent relationship anytime soon. 9to5Mac reports that some code stashed within iOS 7 indicates that Apple’s next-generation A7 processor will indeed contain components supplied by Samsung. The code, first discovered by developer Nick Frey, shows that a new processor labeled “s5l8960x” will have Samsung parts installed, although we don’t yet know the extent of the company’s involvement.
9to5Mac’s sources say that Samsung will deliver components that will at least “power the display” of future iOS devices, so if nothing else it seems Apple’s processors will have Samsung parts in them for at least the next year or so. Earlier this year we heard rumors that Apple was cutting Samsung out of the chip design process all together but for now that doesn’t appear to be the case.
